Midgard

Midgard Family, Design: Curt Fischer

The Midgard lamp brand was originally established in 1919 in the Thuringian town of Auma by the engineer Curt Fischer. Midgard was known for building the first adjustable lamps, a true innovation at the beginning of the 20th century. With his designs, Curt Fischer is regarded as the inventor of directional light. In 2015, David Einsiedler and Joke Rasch, the founders of PLY, resurrected the tradition-rich brand: besides all rights to the classic Midgard lamp ranges, they also acquired the original tools, as well as the huge company archive, and restarted the production of Midgard lamps. neumann communication has supported the revival of the Midgard brand from the very beginning, providing strategic press relations consultancy, traditional press-office work and social media services for the German-speaking markets. In 2019, Midgard will be celebrating its 100th anniversary, among other events, with an exhibition at the Cologne Museum of Applied Arts (MAKK). neumann communication will be project-managing and coordinating the editorial work for the accompanying exhibition catalogue.
